All editing services will be done using the Chicago Manual of Style as a reference. U.S. spelling will be used unless requested otherwise. A deposit of 25% of the estimated total cost is required to secure booking. This will go toward the total cost of the project.
Please note that it is highly recommended that copyedits and proofreads are done on final drafts.
Copyediting

You’ve reached the point where you’re happy with your story. After multiple drafts, your manuscript is almost ready, but copyediting is a crucial step before publishing your book. You’ll need a fresh set of eyes to make sure that your book is error free and ready to be released into the world. I will correct:
- Grammar
- Spelling

- Word usage
- Typos
- Readability
- Inconsistencies/Continuity errors
- Redundancies
Proofreading

You’re almost there! But a proofread is the final step in the editing process before publication. Small errors can fall through the cracks, so you’ll definitely want to make sure that everything is set for a great reading experience.
Proofreading is for books that have passed through all rounds of the editing phase and need one last look-through. I will make check and make corrections on:
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Syntax
- Typos
Proofreads can be done before or after the formatting stage.
Copyediting + Proofreading Bundle

With the copyediting and proofreading bundle, you’ll get both services done in one booking. I’ll perform 2 passes of the copyedit and send the manuscript back to you. Once you’ve looked over the edits and revised your story, I’ll perform a proofread on the newly revised manuscript.

What file types do you accept?
I accept Microsoft Word documents.
Do you use editing software?
I use Track Changes, which comes with Microsoft Word. Other than that, I use The Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. If you’d like me to use a different dictionary or different style guide, please let me know.
Do you provide style sheets for manuscripts?
Yes. All copyedited manuscripts will come with a style sheet.
How do I know that you will be a good fit for me?
I’m dedicated, honest, and meticulous. Your book is important to you, so it’s important to me. I can provide a sample edit of up to 1,250 words for your review.
What genres do you edit?
I edit all types of contemporary fiction genres. I do not edit nonfiction books. This includes poetry, self-help, biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs.
Do you provide a sample edit?
Yes. If you’re interested, please message me with a sample of your work of up to 1,250 words. I’ll have it back to you within 24 – 48 hours.
Do you edit short stories or novellas?
Yes. All lengths of fiction books are welcome.
How long does an edit or proofread take?
The time varies depending on many factors (e.g., book length, depth of editing, and availability). Once we’ve discussed the scope of editing you’ll need, I’ll give you an estimated delivery time. Average timelines can range from 3 weeks to 6 weeks.
Do you require a deposit?
All projects require a 25% nonrefundable deposit before work can start. The deposit is calculated by the estimated number of words in the manuscript and will be subtracted from the total amount of the project.
Do you provide payment plans?
Yes! Payments can be split in three.
Do you require a contract?
A signed contract is required for all projects. The contracts details the scope of the project, pricing and payment schedules, timelines, and what is to be expected from me and you. It’s a great way to avoid any miscommunication.
